About Third Pottery
Third Pottery is indeed the third pottery of both Nan Coffin
and Richard Burkett. Richard's first pottery, the Wild Rose
Pottery, was in Greencastle, Indiana, and soon was moved to
a farm near Bainbridge, Indiana. Nan had potteries in both Whitestown,
Indiana and for many years in Paoli, Indiana, where she ran
her Log Creek Pottery. Nan continues to be a full-time studio
potter making functional porcelain and stoneware items.
Richard teaches ceramics at San Diego State University and
makes pots when he has time off. He also runs the CeramicsWeb
site at SDSU and is the author of HyperGlaze,
and the co-author of "Ceramics: A Potter's Handbook"
6th edition, available from Wadsworth/Thomson
Publishers.
See Nan Coffin's and Richard Burkett's sites for more information
about both of them and to view more of their work.
